Deviation Inspection Analysis Services

A common application for metrology-grade 3D laser scanning is deviation analysis. When laser scanned files are combined with 3D CAD drawings, a cross reference to compare surface deviation can be examined via graphics and coloured maps. This is particularly useful for quality control applications where product specifications need to meet stringent tolerances, or to check for wear and tear. When used with an original CAD file, manufactured products can be inspected for quality consistency. If reverse-engineering the original part is required, then the deviation analysis can provide thorough information on how the original, physical part compares with the newly drawn digital file. Inspection is frequently used for molds and tooling as well as restoration parts. In the images below, we have two examples of automotive inspection: one for an exhaust catalytic converter, and one for a suspension arm.
